Took delivery of the purple futon what will be our sofa bed. Under that is an Aldi 12v + 240v coolbox, van paint, awning and hook up cables. Tucked in the corner is a camping table. I have a new wheel arch in the post. Fingers crossed that will arrive soon so i can get it on and start painting the van while we have this good weather.

Nice day so thought i would start painting. Wind stopped play as in front was a white car and behind in the wind direction was a red van then our yellow car šŸ˜†

Another rubbish day with rain so did this

OK having a nightmare with the paint. I bought 5lt expecting this to cover the whole van. That roof is 3lt used so now having to do an undercoat. Bought a pot of red oxide to brush on and this should make a good base and help keep rust at bay. The paint i bought was chassis paint so quite tough. I ordered another 2lt so fingers crossed that will be enough.

Started to put down a coat of Red Oxide. Its spreading quite nice so i may just do two coats of that since i bought 5lt šŸ˜€

I added a gutter over the doors as i got sick of getting a wet nut every time i opened the slider due to a bad design. its hard to see as i painted it red but this will also get painted black with the rest of the van. The proper gutter for camper vans is over £16 a meter. I got this J Alloy gutter for £12

Gutter on and painted

Nice day yesterday so got on with the painting. Most of it has two coats so just touch up areas to do and the bits missed when the masking tape comes off. Today i got a few stickers on where i dont need a 2nd coat of paint

So not a great deal happening just now as its its mostly finish painting and order up finishing touches for inside. Put some coach line along the side and a couple of smaller stickers and a 1st coat of paint on the wheels and bumpers but its looking the part now.

Got a cutter to allow me to put in a gas vent

Another internal job crossed off the list. Put the TV in. Just need to get a good Aerial.

So i was not happy with the seat base. They were both to high as my legs were touching the wheel after i installed the swivel plates.

I ordered up some box 3cm box steel and got it cut to size. The two uprights i made 10cm tall but should have left it at 11. Explain in a mo.

You can see below how squint the old ones sit

So got my steel and welded it all up

Drilled holes to mount swivel plate and floor mount bolts

Bolted it all into the swivel plate

Then angle ground down all the welds and cut away the extra steel needed for the old mounts
Had i did this in the first place i would not have needed to weld the extension onto the swivel on the first place

Floor mount drilled and seat base bolted in place

Seat bolted to swivel. I did have to still use steel as the cross beams as the seat runners were wider than the plate but its hidden well

Just need to paint and box in. Reason i should have kept it at 11cm for the uprights is i wanted a small safe under the seat. Only small safes i am finding are 17cm tall. I only have 16cm max. May put a cm riser in later if i cant fine a smaller safe
